So, no OSC-play, but you do have OSC-cursor speed control. That’s a mouldy one, Francesco.

Okay, this is totally boring boiler-plate stuff, but: Can you give us the details of your environment, such as Iannix version, O/S, other running programs (including anti-virus, which you might want to temporarily disable, for observation purposes).

Confirming the messages in the inspector would seem to be conclusive, but…

    Perplexed,

    Yes,
i’m on Ubuntu 10.04, with IanniX 8.2 and 8.2.1, both build from source.
i don’t have antivirus (for what i know).
OSC messages are sent from a Lua script using a simple osc module, or from Csound (a running piece simply for sending and/or receiving osc).
    Both same result.

I’m not an expert nor a programmer, and i am exploring IanniX to know it better.
It’s also possible that something is wrong on my system!

The only thing that confuse me is that inspector display the right messages, because i was thinking that the message or the way i sent it are wrong.

I will go on in my explorations.

But are You able to send a osc play message to a IanniX score?

Thank You, also for Your time,
    ciao,
    francesco.

Yes, the play message works for me.

Something just occurred to me, Francesco: In another thread, Dave Phillips mentioned that OSC with the loopback IP address (127.0.0.1) was not working between Ardour and Iannix in his Linux environment (I forgot what distro he was using — it might have been Ubuntu). He reported that Paul Davis (the author of Ardour) acknowledged this problem and thought it might be trouble with liblo. Paul recommended instead using the actual local IP address (usually something like 192.168.001.030). This fixed Dave’s problem.

The troubling thing is that you see the correct incoming OSC messages in the Iannix inspector. Did you double-check that? Anyway, you might want to try the IP-thing.

    Hello All,
i’m not sure if this could be a bug.
Triggers size are always the same independently by the zoom.
I mean that if i zoom the score trigger size don’t change.
Maybe it is the right behaviour, and then apologies.

    Thanks,
    ciao,
    francesco.

would be incredible to hear something. is there anybody smart enough to explain why someone might not hear anything and possible ways to fix that? surely this product is worth it!

    Hello,
for what i know Iannix is not a sound engine, is a graphical program that can send many differents type of messages, using MIDI, or OSC, etc.
You do need a program able to receive this data and able to produce sounds.
If You look at patches folder You will find some examples using PD or SuperCollider, etc.
I use Csound like synth that receive OSC (or MIDI) messages mapped to some sound parameters.

    Hope helpful,
    ciao,
    francesco.

It seems that we still have a problem with MIDI on Windows. 🙄
I will see with Guillaume how to improve it!

my knowledge in that field is fairly limited, but it seems that the problem is with C runtimes. Also, I don’t have the iannix out midi port, so I manually created it with Loop Midi, but it doesn’t help, it seems like the error is before the signal is even sent to midi port

    Hi!

It is the normal behavior. Because IanniX score have no bounds/’normal’ zoom (infinite), we decide that objects must always have the same size. But of course, you can disable this feature in “Display > Autoresize objects” menu!

Not so stupid because I thought implementing such a feature. Actually, we wanted to implement something to distort score space-time… but we need time or contributors!

    Thanks for your feedback!

    Hi!

It seems that Windows doesn’t allow to create software MIDI port. So IanniX have troubles to create its own virtual ports. You need to install something like MIDI Yoke (http://www.midiox.com/myoke.htm) and you can also have a look at this thread (https://www.iannix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=174&p=356).

Of course! We are building a real documentation of IanniX and theses variables will be documented.
