Dave, I’m curious if you’d share any of your vision for this pairing of apps. Do you see application for composing in a new way, or in live performance? …some kind of enhancements to mixdown automation? …design a new (maybe virtual) control surface (touchscreen/tablet)? …etc?
I’ve read you over the years, and I know you must have something cooking.
Cheers,

Sorry, Cyrille, that my suggestions are a bit of a kludge, but if it helps…good.
Cheers,

Yes and yes. I need to learn more about IanniX first, so at this stage everything I do with it is in the experimental mode. I’m also spending a lot of time with SuperCollider (3.5 from Git), I’ve begun thinking about using IanniX to simultaneously control SC3 and Ardour3. And of course there are wonderful possibilities with video, sensors, MIDI, et cetera.
Basically I see a possible arrangement of things, then I try it and check out what happens. IanniX lends itself to experimentation, it’s a perfect vehicle for where I’m tending now.
Btw, I see that you’re into the great athenaCL. Are you also familiar with the GRACE/Common Music system ?

Definitely yes. Some early UNIX audio mixing programs included capabilities for scripted and algorithmic mixing, the IanniX GUI presents a new way of doing something similar. According to Paul, everything in Ardour’s menus should be available via OSC messages, and again the wonderful possibilities present themselves.

Not heading that way. I gave up jockeying with hardware after my novice HAM license expired. In 1965. 😉
I’ve read you over the years, and I know you must have something cooking.
The kitchen is open here 24/7, 365 days of the year. 🙂

Incidentally, Paul suggested that the localhost address wasn’t working and advised using the non-local IP address. He thinks the problem is with liblo. Unfortunately I’ll have to change my scripts if/when that address changes, so I’m interested in figuring out how to enable the localhost address.
Best,

This notion of multiple-downstream processes (and it may not be fair to consider IanniX as only “upstream”, as it too can be algorithmically influenced) opens up exciting possibilities which seem quite cutting edge. With the help of Jack, we can have IanniX controlling generative processes running simultaneously with an IanniX-driven Ardour automated mix. Another user here, Cyrille, has that same notion of driving two downstream processes, in his case it’s Processing and Usine.

I had been exploring all the known *nix-win-mac based algos, including CM of course, but then the real clincher for me was when Computer Music Journal published Christopher Ariza’s essay on the Xenakis Sieve that pushed me head-over-heels to athenaCL. It’s a great tool. Another author I found eminently readable in this field is Miranda (can’t recall his given name, nor the titles at the moment).
Yes, Taube’s “Notes from the Metalevel” was one of my first inspirations for trying to work up my algo-comp chops. Your article doesn’t hurt either 😉 . I’ll have to take a look at Grace.

Hi Guillaume!

Okayyy, I didn’t test with your scores, but I will !
Have you been able to experience this anomaly? I want to expand upon this score, but am awaiting your results before going ahead.
Please let me know if I can offer any assistance or further information about this.
Cheers,

Hi Guillaume!
I’m just wondering if you’re ready to check in your 0.8.21 changes. I want to do some more work with the code and see only 0.8.2 (May 24) at this time.
Thanks!

After having left the Iannix world for a while, I have returned to see what
is new. I must I am very impressed with all the progress that has been made.
The addition of javascript is a huge improvement in usability. I do have a couple
of questions…
1. Can I include third party java script libraries?
2. Can someone recommend any libraries that I can use to generate geometry?
Thanks,
Anthony
I’m wondering how you’re doing on this issue, and I see our max4live friends have not yet jumped in here. Are you aware of the Max-for-Live forum at Cycling74? I’m sure you could get an answer there. I just did a search there for “midi ports” which looks like this. So, the subject of MIDI ports does come up from time to time.
Cheers,

I was wondering if anyone out there has gotten Iannix to work with csound?
Csound supports OSC but it seems to not be picking up the messages
that are sent from Iannix.
Any ideas as to what the problem might be?
Thanks,
Anthony
I am also having trouble getting Iannix to work in Ableton. Could somebody please create a walk through on installation in Ableton.
I have read the forums, watched some you tube videos and followed the ” small tutorial @ Max for live .com but still no luck.
I have noticed that in the Iannix download folder in patches>ableton live midi > 2. live setup.png
that there is Iannix midi ports which do not show up on my system???
How do I achieve this?
Where should the Iannix folder reside.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Hello everybody,
i was wondering if there is a way to add an object (let say another trigger) when a cursor fires a trigger… any simple code examples?
By the way, thank you to developers for this great software!
Ciao
Is there a way to create an SVG curve from the UI? I see a javascript example
but have no way to create one by hand. Is this possible?
Hello IanniX, is anyone home?
I’m also on Winzzoz
like sitarman i can’t see the iannix midi port on ableton… i’ve notice the same, on startup iannix dispaly that message ” midi port one wan found in midi yoke…”
others win users have the same problem?
tryng to modify the udp port in m4l nothin work, max still say that port 2001 isn’t avaible…
WE WANT THE MIDI NATIVE MODE!!! 😀
great software with a great license!
greats to alla the people that collaborate in this project!
